San Vicente School Outreach 2010
Hi, my name is Christiana Hadley. I am 19 years old. This is my first time to Mexico and I don’t even know where to begin on how my week has been here in San Vicente.

It has been amazing from the first moment I walked through the doors. I know God is at work here. To be honest, before the trip, I let my imagination get the best of me. I thought I would be in horrible conditions. I brought tons of extra things that I know now was kind of silly of me. But Dave and Lynne have really made this place feel like home.

The first day we were supposed to go to a school for a health fair, but we woke up to rain. So it was cancelled, but that didn’t stop Dave or Lori. They put us straight to work sorting school supplies and doing other chores that needed to be done. It was a blessing to help them. They really did an amazing job making us all feel at home here.

The next day was really an adventure walking into the first school. I was nervous and didn’t know how the children (or I, for that matter) would react to each other. But I walked into that school and had an amazing time. Theresa was an amazing teacher; she walked in there and grabbed the children’s attention. It was a blessing to see all the teachers work. It really helped me to be bolder. I walked over to the games and began laughing and playing with the children.

Each of the next few days were greater and more fun than the one before. Everyone worked hard to do their best to make sure the health fair was more than perfect. We all have had a blast laughing and learning from each other. My favorite part of the day is when Phil has a devotional every morning after breakfast. Phil is a wonderful teacher.

One day we were all walking the streets of San Vicente and we heard some children yelling “Keith” (one of the members of our team). That really just made the whole week for me. I knew then that we really had an impact on these children’s lives.
I now have lifelong friends and memories to hold on to.

These children have been wonderful blessings for me, just seeing them brushing their teeth, holding each other’s hands, or walking up to me and giving me a hug. I can’t wait for next year. It will be bigger and better, full of lifelong memories I will never forget. Thanks, Dave and Lynne!
