Loreto Weekender May 15-19, 2009

REPORT FOR

WEEKENDER TEAM — May 15-19, 2009

Unfortunately things do not always go according to plan. Jon and Suzy flew into Loreto, but were unable, due to other complications, to arrive in time to drive with me to Constitución. So I left my van at the airport for them to use. BUT half-way to Constitución the van died. So, they hailed down a man passing in another van, who gave them a ride to Constitución, leaving my van on the side of the road for the weekend…

Dr. Jun and Katie Kang were flying from Washington, DC to be with us this weekend and they had had a problem with one of their flights causing them an eight hour delay…

Those joining the team from La Paz arrived on time and we all enjoyed a wonderful dinner together; after which I shared with the 3 doctors that had joined this Weekender Team, what Mexico is doing and advising their people concerning the ‘H1N1’flue… So we had ‘our game plan’ for our Health Fairs if we encountered any concerns...

Saturday we drove one hour north of Constitución, to Santo Domingo. We had been here before in 2007, and 130 people came to that Health Fair and 19 people had prayed to receive Christ at that time... A church from Constitución had also been holding Bible Studies in Santo Domingo for a couple of years before that..., but since our first Health Fair there, there had been a small church started — the first evangelical church in Santo Domingo. Now we were going back to provide further help and encouragement…

On the second day we had about twice as many people as the first day. In fact before Don was able to finish his early morning Bible study, we had about 30+ people arrive to see the doctors, dentist, etc., so Don invited them to also join with us in prayer, asking God to bless everyone who would come. That day we gave out 30 New Testaments, 20 Bibles and over 50 Gospels of John.
