REPORT FOR
WEEKENDER TEAM — May 21-24, 2010
We were so glad to have Suzy Lahitte (pilot), Steve Crews (President of Mexican Medical Ministries), and Dr. Cesar Tamez (missionary from Tijuana) fly down to be a part of our Team this weekend…
Saturday we were in San Lucas, a small town of about 300 people just south of Santa Rosalía. We had been there once before... Pastor Francisco and his wife, Pastora Glenda are just in their early 30’s but doing a wonderful work in this small town. They also work with La Roca Rehabilitation Center - you may remember, this is where we went to put roofs back on the buildings, etc. last October after our last hurricane… In any case, the men from ‘La Roca’ heard we were coming, so they too came to our Health Fair...
People came to our Health Fair, and were helped them all in many ways. And they felt the love of Jesus as we cared for them, and seeds were planted in their minds and hearts. It’s a community we were told, that has been ‘hardened’ against the true Gospel of Christ, and needs our prayers…
Sunday we were in the Prison in Santa Rosalía; and again we enjoyed being there… It’s hard to explain, but when we got there we saw many familiar faces - guards and inmates… And for Lorraine and me, we felt it was a bit like ‘coming home’ - seems strange; but wonderful!
This prison really is not like the ‘Mexican prisons’ you have heard bad stories about; rather this prison is ‘a very special place’. There’s even an evangelical church inside with about 30 men attending services every morning and every evening...
So we are very glad to be apart of this ministry; to show the love of Jesus to the men; to give them tracts, New Testaments and Bibles; to let them see Christ in us; to allow us to pray with and for the men; and to preach to them as well. It’s great! And there are wonderful results! Men are coming to Christ; and God is proving Himself to the men as well…
