June 4-6 report for Santo Tomás/San Vicente
The mission trip for the Santo Tomás and San Vicente short-term mission was really successful in terms of patients served by all team members. We had a team of seven fly in two aircrafts from El Monte, CA, and then one medical doctor, Dr. César Tamez of Tijuana, met us in Santo Tomás, as did Mexican Medical missionary Dave Johnson, bringing along MM's mobile dental unit from San Vicente. In all, the team was composed of five medical staff professionals and three lay persons, including translator Maria Delia Carvajal and Al Lopez.
Dr. Michael Budincich, doing chiropractic services, performed 40 treatments and consults. Dr. Marc Haney of Arcadia served 38 dental patients with Trey Jangard and Daryl Nyvall, both second-year dental students at USC. Dr. César Tamez gave 64 patient consults in the two days. Lay optician (and pilot) Hovannes Sarkissian oversaw the dispensing of about 60 pairs of prescription eyewear--mostly reading glasses.
Our two vans in Ensenada ran perfectly from Ensenada airport to the mission sites and back to base. Thank you to our supporters and donors who help make this ministry possible!
